Safenet Token

The following instructions are for users that wish to install their AdminID onto a Safenet token and/or install a QV Advanced Plus Certificate on the token.

These steps assume you have completed all necessary steps to apply for your certificate, such as for QV Advanced Plus Certificates or AdminID.

To install a digital certificate on a Safenet token, follow the instructions below.

  1. Request a copy of the software from AusCERT and advise AusCERT which platform you will install the software on:  Windows, Mac or Linux.
  2. If you are installing on Mac, see the Safenet Authentication Client User Guide and/or the Safenet Authentication Client Administrator Guide
  3. AusCERT will forward a copy of the software to you via CloudStor.
  4. Install the software and add the licence key provided by AusCERT.  Note that the licence key is for a single use only for use with the associated token.
  5. You now need to initialise the token before using it or installing a digital certificate on it.  See the instructions from QuoVadis:  https://support.quovadisglobal.com/KB/a395/how-do-i-intialise-a-safenet-usb-token.aspx?KBSearchID=27313.  This process requires you to generate a password which you will be prompted to use whenever you access your certificate.
  6. You will receive an email from QV TrustLink inviting you to click on a link to generate the key pair needed for your AdminID or QV Advanced Plus certificate.  Before doing so make sure you have completed steps 1 - 5 above and your token is connected to the USB of your computer.
  7. Note that if you are using Windows, it is strongly recommended that you open Internet Explorer and copy the link into IE to generate the key pair.  This does not mean you will need to use IE once the certificate is installed on your token.  This is only recommended as part of the key-pair generation and to install the certificate on the token.
  8. Follow the instructions online from QV TrustLink at https://support.quovadisglobal.com/KB/a403/how-do-i-install-a-token-based-certificate-through-trustlink.aspx.
  9. Your certificate is now installed on your token.  If you need to use your certificate, the token must be connected to your computer.
